ALGIERS-A delegation of the National People's Congress (NPC) will take the 7th meeting of the Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (UFM), which starts Thursday in Rome (Italy). The agenda of this two-day session includes three main themes relating to "immigration policies and integration", to "The protection of the environment in the Mediterranean region" and "Financial Instruments for Development of the region, "said a statement from the NPC. The meeting will bring together the parliaments of 27 countries of the European Union (EU), the 10 parliaments of the countries south of the Mediterranean and 6 other MENA countries, had reported recently in Rome, a parliamentary source. The first day of this meeting will be devoted to meeting the five committees from the Assembly, the source said. It is the Committee for Political Affairs, Security and Human Rights, the promotion of quality of life, exchanges in civil society and culture, that women's rights in the Mediterranean the Economic and Financial Committee on Social Affairs and Education and that of the environment, energy and water. British Prime Minister has joined the French president's request for holding an extraordinary summit of the European Union (EU) to determine a "common strategy" against the Libyan crisis, the Elysee said Monday.
